In this webinar, they discuss the real challenges facing translational research today, the opportunities emerging at the intersection of science and industry, and what it takes to train the next generation of innovators ready to turn discovery into impact.

Speakers:

Dean Felsher, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine-Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine and Director of the Translational Research and Applied Medicine (TRAM) Program, which he has led since 2011. His laboratory investigates how oncogenes initiate and sustain cancer, and he has pioneered model systems showing that inactivating a single oncogene, such as MYC, can be sufficient to reverse tumor growth — a concept known as "oncogene addiction."

Joanna Liliental, PhD, is Executive Director of Stanford's Master's in Translational Research and Applied Medicine (M-TRAM) program, Director of the Translational Applications Service Center (TASC), and Associate Director of the Translational Research and Applied Medicine (TRAM) Program. Since 2011, she has worked alongside Dean Felsher, mentoring researchers as they move scientific findings from the lab into clinical application, including biomarker research for early cancer detection.
