Mercedes’ new S-Class just DESTROYED BMW

Rather than being an all-new car, this is more of a mid-life facelift. However, it’s no ordinary facelift, with around 50% of the car having been changed, making it the most extensive mid-life update in Mercedes history!
The question is, does this new S-Class have what it takes to compete with the Audi A8 & BMW 7 Series? Let’s take a closer look…
Starting with the exterior, there are several large updates, most notably at the front, where there’s a whole new look. The DRLs have been updated to include the 3-pointed star lights, and there’s an all-new grille. However, while it may be all-new, it looks quite plastic and cheap - especially when blacked out in the AMG Line trim. The side profile remains largely the same, and at the back, there are updated (and improved) taillights and a new bumper design.
However, it’s on the inside where the most notable changes can be found, with the new panoramic Superscreen now sweeping across the entire dash. It encompasses the infotainment screen and a separate screen for the passenger, and it features Mercedes new infotainment system - a marked improvement over the previous iteration! There’s also a new steering wheel (with some physical buttons), and of course, the cabin is covered in soft-touch, high-quality materials.
In the rear, the seats are as comfortable as ever, especially in the two-seat edition that we have here. There’s a huge centre console with lots of storage, new passenger screens, and the seats fully recline just as they used to.
The new Mercedes S-Class will cost from £103,000 for the AMG Line Premium trim we have here. However, depending on the engines and trims you choose, this could rise up to around £140,000!
