В п’ятницю, 13 червня, Ізраїль завдав ряд авіаударів по Ірану, ціллю яких були об'єкти ядерної програми Ірану та військове керівництво країни. Армія оборони Ізраїлю верифікувала початок операції, мета якої — “завдати шкоди ядерній програмі Ірану та у відповідь на триваючу агресію іранського режиму проти Ізраїлю.” Про це йдеться в офіційній заяві ЦАХАЛу. ЗМІ повідомляють про ліквідацію осіб серед вищого військового командування Ірану. За даними ізраїльських та іранських медіа, під час першої хвилі атак загинув начальник Генштабу Збройних сил Ірану генерал-майор Мохаммад Багері.
