Il ministro dell'Istruzione e del Merito Giuseppe Valditara replica con un video alla polemica sulla «rilevazione degli alunni palestinesi» presenti nelle scuole italiane avviato da una circolare che è ora al centro delle contestazioni. Valditara spiega come «allo scopo di favorire il pieno inserimento scolastico degli studenti palestinesi nelle scuole, la direzione Affari Internazionali del ministero dell’Istruzione e del Merito ha avviato una rilevazione, tramite gli Usr, per conoscerne il numero e l’ordine scolastico di frequenza. Tale attività è stata avviata con le stesse finalità e con il medesimo format utilizzati dal precedente governo relativamente agli studenti ucraini. Davvero inappropriato che un’iniziativa, volta ad assicurare la migliore accoglienza e integrazione nel percorso scolastico degli studenti palestinesi, venga ingiustamente strumentalizzata per finalità di propaganda con un assurdo rimando, addirittura alle leggi razziali del 1938». Il ministro mostra i documenti che nel tempo hanno scandito l'iniziativa che ha la sola finalità di «favorire l'accoglienza dei ragazzi privati della possibilità di studiare, attraverso strumenti come la conoscenza della lingua italiana e un approccio educativo adatto al loro vissuto passato e attuale».
