Irán ha acusado a Estados Unidos de fomentar la desestabilización política, incitar a la violencia y amenazar su soberanía, integridad territorial y seguridad nacional. En una carta enviada el martes al Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, el embajador de Irán ante las Naciones Unidas, Amir Saeid Iravani, culpó a Estados Unidos e Israel de la pérdida de vidas civiles durante los últimos días de protestas. El presidente del Parlamento iraní, por su parte, advierte de que Teherán dará una "lección inolvidable" a Washington si ataca el país. El comandante en jefe del ejército iraní afirma que, tras los ataques de Israel contra Irán en junio, las fuerzas armadas están mejor preparadas para el combate. Las autoridades afirman que casi 300 personas han sido detenidas por incitar a los disturbios.
