Suriyeli Halil: Avrupa'ya 10 yıl süren yolculuk
Halil, Suriye'yi terk ettiğinde yalnızca altı yaşındaydı; her gün çatışmaların yaşandığı ülkeyi felce uğratan iç savaş doruğa ulaşmıştı.Suriye'nin batısındaki Humus'ta, taksici babası, annesi ve iki küçük kız kardeşiyle birlikte yaşıyordu.
Çatışmalardan önce, 1,5 milyon nüfusuyla Suriye'nin en büyük üçüncü kenti olan Humus, 2011'de Suriye Devlet Başkanı Beşar Esad'a karşı protestoların kilit noktalarından biri olmuştu.
Halil, “Köyüm iki dağın arasındaydı ve her gece çatışmalar yaşanıyordu” diyor;
“Askerler ve isyancılar birbirlerine saldırdıklarında silahlarının namlusundan çıkan ateşi ve ışığı görebiliyordum. Çok korkuyordum.”
2015 sonunda muhaliflerin Humus'u terk etmesiyle kent hükümet güçlerinin kontrolüne geçti.
Ayaklanmalar sırasında neredeyse tüm barışçıl muhalefet faaliyetlerini suç sayan 'terörle mücadele yasası' uyarınca, on binlerce kişi gözaltına alındı. Gözaltına alınanlar arasında Halil'in babası İbrahim de vardı.
Halil, “Hükümet onu hapse attı. Çıktığında (ailece) çok fazla şeye göğüs germek zorunda kaldık. Bu yüzden Suriye'den ayrılmaya karar verdik” diyor.
Mülteci bir çocuk olarak on yıl sürecek yolculuğu da böyle başladı.
