PLO | Nghi vấn: Kẻ ám sát ông Trump là thành viên Đảng Cộng hòa?Cục Điều tra Liên bang Mỹ (FBI) xác định Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20 tuổi, từ quận Bethel Park, bang Pennsylvania, là nghi phạm trong vụ mưu sát cựu Tổng thống Donald Trump. Crooks bị tiêu diệt trên nóc một tòa nhà gần nơi ông Trump tổ chức sự kiện vận động tranh cử, với một khẩu súng trường bán tự động AR-15 bên cạnh. Danh tính của Crooks được xác định thông qua vân tay và đặc điểm sinh trắc học do không mang giấy tờ tùy thân.
Crooks không có tiền án và hồ sơ đăng ký cử tri cho thấy anh ta là cử tri chính thức của Đảng Cộng hòa. Tuy nhiên, quan điểm chính trị của Crooks không rõ ràng, vì anh ta từng ủng hộ 15 USD cho một ủy ban hành động chính trị cấp tiến của Đảng Dân chủ thông qua ActBlue vào ngày nhậm chức của Tổng thống Joe Biden.
Crooks tốt nghiệp Trường trung học Bethel Park năm 2022, nhận "giải thưởng ngôi sao" trị giá 500 USD từ Sáng kiến Toán và khoa học quốc gia. FBI vẫn chưa cung cấp thêm thông tin chi tiết và cuộc điều tra vẫn đang diễn ra. Rạng sáng 14-7, các tuyến đường dẫn đến nhà Crooks tại Bethel Park bị phong tỏa bởi lực lượng chức năng.
