THAILAND: Forscher entdecken größten Dinosaurier SüdostasiensBangkok – Ein gigantischer Pflanzenfresser sorgt für Staunen in Thailand: Der neu identifizierte „Nagatitan chayafumensis“ gilt offiziell als größter bislang entdeckter Dinosaurier Südostasiens. Der Sauropode wurde bis zu 27 Meter lang und wog rund 27 Tonnen. Damit übertraf er sogar die Länge eines Blauwals. Die Knochen des Urzeit-Riesen lagen bereits seit rund zehn Jahren im Nordosten Thailands verborgen. Erst jetzt gelang Forschern die eindeutige Zuordnung als neue Dinoart. Der Gigant lebte vor etwa 100 bis 120 Millionen Jahren in der frühen Kreidezeit. Ein lebensgroßes Modell steht inzwischen im Dinosaurier-Museum von Bangkok.
