Aarti Shri Shiv Ji Ki (आरती श्री शिव जी की) — popularly known by its refrain “Om Jai Shiv Omkara” (ॐ जय शिव ओंकारा) — is one of the most beloved Hindi aartis dedicated to Lord Shiva.

This devotional hymn praises the divine unity represented through Brahma, Vishnu and Sadashiva, contemplating the powers of creation, preservation and dissolution as united within the sacred reality of Omkara — Om (ॐ).

एकानन, चतुरानन, पंचानन राजे
हंसासन, गरूड़ासन
वृषवाहन साजे

The one-faced, four-faced and five-faced divine forms shine in majesty.

One is seated upon the Hamsa, another upon Garuda, while Shiva is magnificently adorned with the bull, Nandi, as His vehicle.

दो भुज, चारु चतुर्भुज, दस भुज ते सोहे
तीनों रूप निरखता
त्रिभुवन मन मोहे

The forms with two arms, beautiful four arms and ten arms shine magnificently.

Beholding these three divine manifestations captivates the hearts of beings throughout the three worlds.

यक्षमाला, वनमाला, मुण्डमाला धारी
त्रिपुरारी कंसारी
कर माला धारी

The divine forms are adorned with their distinctive sacred garlands—the Akshamala, Vanamala and Mundamala.

There is Tripurari, Shiva who destroyed Tripura, and Kansari, the destroyer of Kamsa; sacred garlands and divine emblems adorn their hands and forms.

श्वेतांबर पीतांबर बाघंबर अंगे
सनकादिक गरुणादिक
भूतादिक सांगे

One is clothed in white, another in yellow garments, while Shiva adorns His body with the tiger skin.

The sages beginning with Sanaka, Garuda and the divine attendants and bhutas accompany these sacred manifestations.

कर के मधे कमंडलु चक्र त्रिशूल धर्ता
जग करता जग हर्ता
जगपालन कर्ता

In their hands are held the Kamandalu, Chakra and Trishul.

They embody the cosmic functions:

the creation of the universe,
the dissolution of the universe,
and the preservation of the universe.

ब्रह्मा विष्णु सदाशिव जानत अविवेक
प्रणवाक्षर में मध्य

Only through lack of deeper understanding are Brahma, Vishnu and Sadashiva perceived as entirely separate.
