The Ford Foundation has moved out of its long-time office in New Delhi after more than six decades. The government has allotted the premises to two India-led initiatives — the International Big Cat Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance. The move follows the end of the foundation’s lease, with eviction proceedings beginning in 2025. But why does the building matter? The Ford Foundation has had a presence in India since 1952 and supported programmes in education, agriculture, research and social development. The building was also designed by architect Joseph Stein. In this video, Firstpost explains the move, the organisations involved and the building’s history.
