Uganda elections: Calm in city centre despite unrest and internet curbs

Internet access has been restored in Uganda, but some services, including WhatsApp, remain blocked over misinformation concerns.
Authorities say attempts were made to disrupt voting, with skirmishes and attacks on a police station and polling centre reported.
Security remains heavy across Kampala, with police, military patrols and helicopters deployed.
Despite this, daily life appears calm in the city centre.
Police say opposition leader Bobi Wine is not under house arrest, though his whereabouts remain unclear.
Bobi Wine says he is in hiding and has urged supporters to reject the election.
Two other presidential candidates have also rejected the results.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from Kampala, Uganda.
