Desakan ini muncul setelah Affan Kurniawan (21) tewas dilindas kendaraan taktis Brimob, Kamis (28/8/2025) malam.
Selain Affan, beberapa driver ojol lain mengalami luka-luka dalam peristiwa tersebut.
Para pengemudi disebut bukan bagian dari kerusuhan, melainkan terjebak di lokasi bentrokan.
Ketua Umum Asosiasi Pengemudi Ojek Online Garda Indonesia, Raden Igun Wicaksono, menyatakan negara harus hadir melindungi warganya.
Ia menegaskan nyawa sipil tidak boleh menjadi korban akibat kelalaian aparat.
“Negara harus hadir melindungi, bukan mencederai,” tegas Igun, Jumat (29/8/2025).
Menurutnya, tragedi ini menjadi pengingat penting bahwa pekerja lapangan, khususnya pengemudi ojol, berada dalam kondisi rawan setiap hari.
Tragedi kematian Affan Kurniawan menimbulkan duka mendalam bagi sesama pengemudi ojol.
Mereka berharap ada langkah nyata dari pemerintah.
