Dilansir dari The Guardian pada, Rabu (16/7), Daniel Graham (39) dan Adam Carruthers (32) divonis empat tahun tiga bulan penjara oleh pengadilan di Newcastle.
Pohon itu tumbang menimpa tembok Hadrian setelah ditebang dengan gergaji mesin pada malam badai, September 2023 lalu.
Peristiwa ini memicu kesedihan dan kemarahan publik di Inggris dan dunia.
Hakim menyebut aksi ini dilakukan demi sensasi, bukan karena pengaruh alkohol seperti yang diklaim sebelumnya.
Pohon tersebut merupakan ikon yang ditanam sejak abad ke-19 dan menjadi lokasi favorit masyarakat untuk berbagi momen penting.
Kedua pelaku dinyatakan bersalah setelah bukti video dan pesan yang menunjukkan mereka menikmati aksinya.
