Il video del comizio in piazza Duomo a Reggio Calabria, in cui il sindaco Francesco Cannizzaro urla “Curnutu sì tu e cu nun t'u dice”, riassume in pochi secondi una campagna elettorale suppletiva già infuocata e trasforma uno scontro locale in un test nazionale per Futuro Nazionale di Roberto Vannacci.A Reggio, infatti, si vota con elezioni suppletive del 27–28 settembre nel collegio uninominale 05 (Reggio Calabria e provincia) per eleggere un nuovo deputato al posto di Cannizzaro, eletto sindaco a maggio e quindi dimissionario da Montecitorio. Futuro Nazionale, il partito di Vannacci, schiera Domenico “Mimmo” Giannetta, ex capogruppo di Forza Italia in Consiglio regionale. Forza Italia, sostenuta dal governatore Roberto Occhiuto e dal sindaco Cannizzaro, punta sul candidato nazionale Fabio Roscioli, avvocato romano, per blindare il collegio.Durante un comizio, Vannacci ha attaccato Cannizzaro accusandolo di promettere cariche e benefici: «Vi fa vedere le carote come foste asini». Su Roscioli ha poi usato una metafora dura, riferendosi a candidati “forestieri” e dicendo che vogliono convincere i reggini che «se siete stati cornuti in passato dovete essere mazziati per il futuro».La reazione di Cannizzaro non si è fatta attendere: sul palco, in dialetto, ha lanciato il motto “Curnutu sì tu e cu nun t'u dice”, ripetuto da molti in piazza.
