Asked about India’s potential as a mediator, President Stubb said, "Definitely, I am a great admirer of India. I think India will be our next superpower. You know, right up there with the United States and China." The Finnish President also defended India's right to buy Russian oil. His remarks follow the US decision to impose 25% punitive tariffs on Indian exports, despite China and Europe continuing energy trade with Russia. He said, "Without oil and gas exports, Russia will not be able to afford to conduct this war, but I am not going to blame India, I am going to blame all of us collectively.
