DRITTER KÜHLTURM GEFALLEN: AKW Biblis schrumpft weiter – Sprengung in Südhessen

In Biblis, Südhessen, fällt der nächste Riese: Der dritte von vier Kühltürmen des früheren Atomkraftwerks Biblis wurde um 14.07 Uhr gesprengt. 80 Meter hoch, Tausende Tonnen Beton – in Sekunden bleibt nur eine gewaltige Staubwolke. RWE, der ehemalige Betreiber, betont, dass keine Strahlengefahr besteht: Die Türme kamen nie mit Radioaktivität in Kontakt. Rund 15.000 Tonnen Beton werden recycelt. Nach der Katastrophe von Fukushima wurde das AKW 2011 stillgelegt, seit 2017 läuft der Rückbau. Mit jedem Turm endet ein Stück deutscher Atomgeschichte.
