Você vai começar a reparar que alguns carros elétricos possuem um equipamento chamado EREV. Mas, que bicho é esse? O termo EREV são as iniciais em inglês.
As letras ER significam Extended Range, em português, alcance estendido. Já a parte EV quer dizer Electric Vehicle, ou seja, um carro elétrico com alcance estendido.
Trocando em miúdos, quando acaba a bateria de um carro elétrico, entra em ação um pequeno motorzinho a combustão que aciona um gerador responsável por carregar a bateria. Isso permite que o carro continue rodando eletricamente.
Ou seja, ele tem motor a combustão e elétrico, mas não é um híbrido porque o motor a combustão não traciona as rodas, ele apenas evita que o carro pare no meio da rua sem bateria, pois ele faz a recarga necessária. No Brasil já teve uma BMW, a i3, elétrica há mais de dez anos com o sistema EREV.
