A Step-By-Step Approach to Wall Walks
Seminar Staff Trainer Todd Widman (CF-L4) breaks down the wall walk from the ground up, taking athletes through every stage of the progression of the movement. He starts with the push-up position and the kick-up drill to establish shoulder stability and body awareness upside down, then moves into the pike push-up and handstand push-up to develop the pressing strength and midline control the wall walk demands. From there, athletes progress to a partial-range wall walk before working up to the full range of motion, walking hands all the way to the wall.
Along the way, Widman covers the faults that show up most often — things like a collapsing midline, flared elbows, or rushing the hand placement — and gives clear fixes for each, so athletes can self-correct instead of reinforcing bad patterns. The result is a scalable, step-by-step approach that meets any athlete where they are, whether they're working toward their first kick-up or refining a full wall walk.
