ለሌበር ፓርቲው ስታርመር የእንግሊዝ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ሆነው ተመረጡ
ከአስር ዓመት በላይ ተቃዋሚ የነበረው የእንግሊዝ ሌበር ፓርቲ ምርጫውን በከፍተኛ ልዩነት ካሸነፈ ከሰዓታት በኋላ፣ የፓርቲው መሪ ኪር ስታርመር አርብ ዕለት በይፋ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ሆነው ተመርጠዋል።ስታርመር የእንግሊዝ መሪነቱን ሥፍራ የተረከቡት በቡኪንግሃም ቤተመንግሥት ከንጉስ ቻርለስ ሣልሳዊ ጋር በግል በተካሄደ ሥነ-ስርዓት ነው።
ለንጉሱ የሥራ መልቀቂያቸውን ያቀረቡት እና ከቤተሰባቸው ጋር ከቤተመንግሥት የተሰናበቱት የወግ አጥባቂው መሪ ሪሺ ሱናክ ባደረጉት የመሰናበቻ ንግግር "ይህ አስቸጋሪ ቀን ነው። ግን ከዚህ ሥራ የምለቀው በዓለም ላይ ምርጥ በሆነ ሀገር ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ሆኜ በማገልገሌ ኩራት እየተሰማኝ ነው" ብለዋል።
ሱናክ አርብ ጠዋት ሽንፈታቸውን በተቀበሉበት ወቅት መራጮች "ከባድ ውሳኔ አሳልፈዋል" ብለው ነበር። ከስድስት ሳምንት በፊት ፈጣን ምርጫ እንዲደረግ ጥሪ ባደረጉበት ተመሳሳይ ቦታ ላይ ቆመው ባደረጉት ንግግር፣ ለስታርመር መልካሙን ሁሉ ተመኝተው፣ የወሰዷቸውን የተሳሳቱ እርምጃዎችም አምነው ተቀብለዋል።
"ቁጣችሁን ሰምቻለሁ። ቅር መሰኘታችሁን ተረድቻለሁ። እናም ላጣነው ውጤት ኃላፊነቱን እወስዳለሁ" ያሉት ሱናክ፣ ያለ ስኬት ደከመኝ፣ ሰለቸኝ ሳይሉ ሲሰሩ ለነበሩ ወግ አጥባቂ ተፎካካሪዎች እና የዘመቻ አስተባባሪዎች "ጥረታችሁ የሚገባውን ማድረግ ባለመቻላችን አዝናለሁ" ሲሉ ይቅርታ ጠይቀዋል።
በአብዛኛው ተጠቃሎ የገባው የምርጫ ውጤት እንደሚያሳየው፣ ሌበር ፓርቲ ከ650 መቀመጫዎች 410ን ያሸነፈ ሲሆን፣ ወግ አጥባቂዎች 118 መቀመጫ ብቻ ነው ያገኙት።
"እንደዚህ አይነት አደራ ከትልቅ ኃላፊነት ጋር ይመጣል" ሲሉ ለደጋፊዎቻቸው የተናገሩት አዲሱ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ስታርመር፣ ከዓመታት ተስፋ መቁረጥ በኋላ የሰዎችን አመኔታ ለመመለስ የምናደርገው ትግል ቀሪውን ዕድሜያችንን የሚወስን ነው ብለዋል።
ስታርመር ያገኙት ድል፣ ከተዳከመው ኢኮኖሚ፣ በተቋማት ላይ ከሚታየው የእምነት ማጣት እና ከማኅበራዊ ትስስር መላላት ጋር የተያያዙ ፈተናዎች ተደቅኖበታል።
