The US Navy has seized two oil tankers linked to Venezuela on suspicion of breaking US sanctions at seaOne, formerly the Bella 1 and now the Marinera, was captured in the North Atlantic after a prolonged pursuit and legal warrant
Russia condemned the action, citing maritime law, and vessels including a submarine were reported near the operation
A second vessel, the M.T. Sophia, was taken in the Caribbean in a pre‑dawn interception by US Southern Command
US officials say both vessels were involved in illicit activities tied to Venezuelan oil exports and sanctions evasion
The moves form part of a broader US campaign to enforce oil sanctions globally and disrupt sanctioned shipments
