Long played eight seasons for the Pistons in the late '70s and early '80s before departing for Indiana. He returned late in the Pistons' first championship season but in a significantly reduced role, averaging just two points per game over 24 regular season appearances. Long would be joined by the likes of Rick Mahorn, Ben Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, and Chauncey Billups as players who returned to Detroit for a second stint following their initial departure.
