Kepala Mossad, David Barnea terbang ke Qatar pada Jumat (5/7/2024) untuk melakukan pembahasan gencatan senjata dan pembebasan sandera.
Rencananya Barnea akan bertemu dengan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Luar Negeri Qatar dalam upaya mendekatkan kesepakatan Israel dan Hamas.
Adapun proposal gencatan senjata terbaru yang dibahas Israel dan Hamas adalah proposal yang diumumkan oleh Presiden Amerika Serikat Joe Biden beberapa waktu lalu.
Meski menyetujui perwakilan Mossad ke Qatar, namun Netanyahu rupanya masih bersikeras akan menghentikan perang jika semua tujuannya tercapai.
Termasuk menghancurkan Hamas dan mencegah gerakan perlawanan untuk berkuasa di Jalur Gaza.
Israel meyakini masih ada puluhan sandera yang masih hidup di Gaza.
Terkait keputusan Netanyahu untuk mengirimkan delegasi kembali ke Qatar mendapat pujian dari Presiden Joe Biden.
AS yakin, Israel dan Hamas memiliki peluang yang cukup signifikan untuk mencapai kesepakatan tentang gencatan senjata dan pembebasan sandera.
