PLO | Mưa lũ nghiêm trọng, đập Tam Hiệp xả lũ với lượng nước chưa từng cóĐập Tam Hiệp, đập lớn nhất Trung Quốc, đang trong tình trạng báo động khi mưa lớn gây lũ lụt nghiêm trọng tại khu vực phía tây nam. Đập đã mở 9 cửa xả lũ để tăng khả năng chứa nước, với lưu lượng xả lên đến 43.000 m³/s vào ngày 16.7, nhằm giảm bớt lo ngại về kiểm soát lũ khi mực nước hồ chứa đạt mức kỷ lục 165 m. Chính quyền Trung Quốc đã nâng mức báo động và sẵn sàng xả lũ nhiều hơn nếu cần thiết.
Lượng mưa lớn đã làm mực nước ở hồ chứa Tam Hiệp tăng cao nhất trong tháng 7 từ trước đến nay. Vào năm 2020, đập đã đối mặt với tình trạng tương tự khi lũ lụt gây ra thiệt hại lớn, nước sông Dương Tử chảy vào hồ chứa ở mức 75.000 m³/s, gần mức tràn đập. Các nhà chức trách tăng xả lũ lên mức kỷ lục 48.800 m³/s để giảm thiểu nguy cơ.
Mặc dù chính phủ khẳng định đập Tam Hiệp đã giảm thiểu lượng nước lũ đáng kể, nhiều chuyên gia cho rằng hiệu quả kiểm soát lũ của đập còn hạn chế và có thể gây hại lâu dài. Đập Tam Hiệp, hoàn thành vào năm 2006 với chi phí 28,6 tỉ USD, đã trở thành niềm tự hào kỹ thuật của Trung Quốc, nhưng vẫn đối mặt với nghi vấn về độ an toàn và khả năng kiểm soát lũ.
Lượng mưa kỷ lục ở Trùng Khánh từ ngày 11.7 đã gây lũ lụt ở nhiều quận huyện, ảnh hưởng hàng chục ngàn người và gây gián đoạn giao thông. Chính quyền địa phương đã cảnh báo và sơ tán người dân để đảm bảo an toàn.
