Katar Silahlı Kuvvetleri (القوات المسلحة القطرية), Kara, Hava ve Deniz Kuvvetleri'nden oluşuyor. Modern ve yüksek teknolojiye dayalı ekipmanlarla donatıldı. Personel sayısı yaklaşık 13 bin. Yüz ölçümü olarak küçük, ancak bölgesinde etkili bir güç olarak öne çıkıyor.Katar, zengin petrol ve doğal gaz gelirleriyle desteklenen ekonomisi sayesinde, dünyanın önde gelen savunma sanayi ülkelerinden geniş bir yelpazede askeri malzeme tedarik ediyor.
Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, Fransa, Birleşik Krallık, Türkiye, Almanya ve İtalya ile yakın ilişkilere sahip. Böylece, ordusunun ihtiyacı olan ekipmanlarla beraber teknoloji transferi imkanını da değerlendiriyor.
2010’lardan itibaren silahlı kuvvetlerini modernize etmek için milyarlarca dolarlık yatırım yaptı. Bu kapsamda hava, deniz ve kara kuvvetleri için yeni nesil platformlar alındı. Barzan Holdings gibi şirketler, savunma teknolojilerine yatırım yapıyor ve uluslararası firmalarla ortaklık kuruyor.
Katar'da iki ana yabancı ülkenin askeri üsleri bulunuyor. Bunlar, Türkiye ve Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'ne ait. ABD, Katar’daki üssü kullanarak DEAŞ’a karşı hava operasyonları ve Afganistan Savaşı için hava desteği sağladı.
Türkiye, 2014’te Katar ile Savunma İşbirliği Anlaşması imzalayarak Tarık Bin Ziyad ve Halid Bin Velid üslerini kurdu. Birleşik Arap Emirlikleri ve Suudi Arabistan'a karşı Türkiye stratejik bir müttefik olarak görülüyor.
Katar, Hamas-İsrail Savaşı'nda Hamas ile ve Afganistan'da Taliban ile arabuluculuk yaparak ABD’nin bölgesel diplomasisini destekliyor.
