UN expert says Israel is committing 'femi-genocide' in Gaza
In an Al Jazeera interview, UN Special Rapporteur Reem Alsalem detailed Israel's "femicide-genocide" in Gaza, presenting evidence of deliberate targeting of Palestinian women and girls to disrupt reproductive continuity.Speaking from Brussels, she revealed 67% of Gaza's 60,000 dead are female, with 150,000 pregnant women denied healthcare and 17,000 suffering malnutrition.
Alsalem told Al Jazeera that Israel's blockade of baby formula and systematic reproductive violence echo Nazi siege tactics, citing 2,600 miscarriages and newborns with war-induced deformities.
She dismissed claims of collateral damage, emphasising the ICJ had recognised genocide plausibility.
The report documents Israel's destruction of families as society's nucleus, with erased civil registries and "wounded children with no surviving relatives".
Alsalem described starvation (IPC Phase 5) as a deliberate weapon, with 67 children already dead from hunger.
She condemned the international community's failure to act despite overwhelming evidence, noting that the violence exceeds existing legal frameworks.
Alsalem's interview concluded with her warning of generational trauma from Israel's calculated extermination campaign.
