This time I travel to the heart of County Mayo to visit the charming town of Ballina -- surrounded by the rolling green hills of the Irish countryside. I traveled for the authentic Irish grooming experience from a true-bred Irishman.
This Ireland journey began with the lush, misty landscapes that define the Wild Atlantic Way, setting the stage for a day of local culture and world-class hospitality in one of Ireland’s most scenic regions. Traveling Ireland is spectacular, with the friendly smiles, the locals who want to chat with you, and the pints that keep flowing.
Before heading to the barber chair, I stopped at Baker 51, a trendy local hipster bakery & coffee shop known for its friendly atmosphere and artisanal treats. Wanting to arrive with a "thank you" in hand, he asks the smiling staff to choose the perfect coffee drinks for the barbers. The local team picks out their favorites for the barbers, showcasing the warm, welcoming spirit that Ballina is famous for, as I headed through the colorful town streets with a tray of fresh coffees.
Lewy’s Barbershop, a local staple where tradition meets modern style. I am greeted by the owner himself, Lewy, who embodies the skill and wit of a master Irish barber. As they share a coffee and a chat, the shop hums with the sound of clippers and the ASMR scissors sounds. It’s a masterclass in Irish grooming, where the heritage of the trade is passed down through generations but kept fresh for the modern man.
