Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono mengumumkan sejumlah nama bakal calon gubernur dan wakil yang akan diusung pada Pilkada 2024.AHY secara langsung memberikan tiga surat rekomendasi kepada sejumlah pasangan petahana. Yang pertama kepada Domingus Mandacan dan Mohamad Lakatoni sebagai calon gubernur dan wakil gubernur untuk Provinsi Papua Barat.
Yang kedua diberikan kepada Erzaldi Rosman dan Abdul Fatah sebagai calon gubernur dan wakil gubernur Provinsi Bangka Belitung.
Dan terakhir surat rekomendasi diberikan kepada Alharis dan Abdullah Sani untuk maju sebagai calon Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Provinsi Jambi.
Menurut AHY, dukungan tersebut diberikan bukan hanya faktor petahana tetapi juga karena hasil aspirasi dari tingkat Kabupaten/ Kota dan Provinsi, dan telah dikonsultasikan dengan Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono selaku ketua majelis tinggi Partai Demokrat.
