Au Moyen Âge et au début des temps modernes, les enfants recevaient une éducation, participaient aux travaux et étaient particulièrement impliqués dans le monde des adultes. L’enfance se veut aujourd’hui plus insouciante, tout en étant plus encadrée. Les enfants d'autrefois étaient-ils pour autant si différents de ceux d'aujourd'hui ? Et peuvent-ils vraiment grandir sans obligations de nos jours ?
