Youssef Siher si avvale della facoltà di non rispondere durante l'interrogatorio di convalida del fermo nel carcere di San Vittore. «È stata una scelta sua. Noi contestiamo le accuse e abbiamo chiesto il rigetto delle misure cautelari. Non c'è alcun pericolo di fuga e secondo noi non ci sono gravi indizi di colpevolezza», afferma l'avvocato Benedetto Ciccarelli, che respinge anche l'aggravante ipotizzata di terrorismo e aggiunge: «Non c'è nessuna istigazione nelle sue attività. Per noi quelli non sono reati». L'avvocata Yasmina Abu Sharar, che assiste anche la moglie di Siher, indagata a piede libero, ribadisce la posizione della difesa: «Per noi non ha commesso nessun reato» e precisa che sarà l'indagato a esprimersi «quando arriverà il momento», aggiungendo: «Lui non è affatto pentito perché non ha fatto nulla se non esercitare i suoi diritti costituzionalmente garantiti». Ora spetta alla gip pronunciarsi sulla convalida del fermo e sulla richiesta della Procura di applicare la custodia cautelare in carcere.
