Bürgergeld weg, Grundsicherung da: Bundestag beschließt Reform
Berlin – Gut drei Jahre nach der Einführung ist das Bürgergeld Geschichte. Der Bundestag hat heute die Abschaffung beschlossen. Ab 1. Juli tritt stattdessen die neue Grundsicherung in Kraft. Sie betrifft gut fünf Millionen Menschen. Am Bürgergeld gab es von Beginn an heftige Kritik: zu teuer, zu bürokratisch, zu zahm gegenüber Arbeitsverweigerern. Das soll sich nun ändern. Das neue Gesetz soll mehr als eine Namensänderung werden.Vor der Abstimmung gab es noch mal eine hitzige Debatte über die Stütze-Reform. SPD-Abgeordneter Jens Peick sagte, mit der Grundsicherung gehe es der schwarz-roten Regierung darum, „Menschen in Arbeit zu bringen“. Die Reform sei kein großer Systemwechsel, sondern ein „Nachschärfen“. Peick stellte klar: „Wer sich an die Regeln hält, für den ändert sich nichts.“ Und weiter: „Wer ein Bild vom Untergang des Sozialstaats zeichnet, macht sich des Populismus schuldig.“
