Nell’estrema destra della Palermo di fine ’900, militano figure poi tristemente famose anche a livello nazionale, come il futuro comandante dell’organizzazione terroristica Ordine Nuovo, Pierluigi Concutelli, o il leader di Terza posizione Ciccio Mangiameli. Due figure che, in modi diversi, sono in qualche modo coinvolte in casi tuttora irrisolti, come per esempio l’uccisione nel gennaio del 1980 di Piersanti Mattarella, presidente della Regione Sicilia e fratello del futuro presidente della Repubblica Sergio. Un delitto in cui la politica si interseca con la mafia, che nonostante due guerre intestine continua a espandere il suo potere senza che lo Stato (con l’eccezione di alcune figure) si preoccupi troppo di contrastarne l’ascesa.
