Dalam keterangannya di pendopo Kantor Bupati Pati, Sudewo menolak untuk lengser dari jabatannya.
Menurutnya ia merupakan pemimpin Pati yang sudah dipilih oleh rakyat secara konstitusional dan domokratis.
Hal itu menjadi alasan mengapa ia tidak bisa dihentikan begitu saja oleh masyarakat.
