Congressional candidate Kirill Basin punched at beach after threats before Hawaii primary election
Kirill Basin, a Democratic congressional candidate for Hawaii's second district, was punched in the face after allegedly threatening beachgoers in Maui on Saturday, August 1.According to Hawaii News Now, county officials said the 40-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.
Footage from the beach on August 1 showed Basin issuing threats to several beachgoers, telling one that he'd “put you in the f*****g ground.” Shortly there after, a man tried to defuse the situation and later, punched the candidate.
Hawaii's primary election is on August 8.
