Poland and Germany strengthen defense ties as reparations issue looms | DW News

Poland's President Karol Nawrocki is calling on NATO to strengthen deterrence following a recent incursion of Russian drones into Poland's airspace.

President Nawrocki is on a visit to Berlin today and is meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The two leaders are expected to discuss plans to strengthen Poland’s eastern defenses, after that major Russian drone incursion. Nawrocki is also expected to revive demands that Germany pay reparations for its treatment of Polish civilians under occupation during the Second World War. Nawrocki has warned that future ties with Germany depend on resolving the reparations issue.
