A través de una investigación jurídica impecable, Pérez Guevara nos devuelve un retrato fiel de nuestra historia: el de un sistema jurídico donde el indio, el mestizo y la mujer tenían voz y amparo en la figura del Monarca. El autor rescata casos concretos, interesantísimos y muy didácticos, de una humanidad desbordante, y que demuestran que la justicia no era un privilegio de pocos, sino una realidad cotidiana que mantenía unido un cuerpo social de dimensiones continentales.
