Setidaknya 1.376 anak sekolah diduga menjadi korban keracunan Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) di berbagai daerah. Pakar gizi masyarakat menyarankan agar program ini dihentikan sementara sambil menunggu evaluasi menyeluruh terhadap insiden keracunan yang terjadi di berbagai daerah.Hasil investigasi dinas kesehatan di Bandung, Bogor, dan Tasikmalaya di Jawa Barat serta Kabupaten Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir di Sumatra Selatan menemukan adanya kontaminasi bakteri Salmonella, E.coli, Bacilius cereus, Stapylococcus aereus, Bacillus subtilis, hingga jamur Candida tropicalis.
Sejumlah orang tua yang ditemui BBC News Indonesia mengaku trauma dan melarang anak mereka menyantap makanan dari pemerintah itu.
"Saya pikir kalau dapat makan gratis bisa meringankan [beban], tapi ini bukannya meringankan malah [mau] membunuh. Tidak usah lagi makan gratis, daripada keracunan," tutur Fitri Febrianti, salah satu orang tua di Kabupaten Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir, Sumatra Selatan.
"Kalau ada MBG jangan dikasih dulu, anak saya takut. Saya juga melarang, soalnya jadi trauma. Kasihan kalau anak keracunan," imbuh Irma Nurliana, orang tua di Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, Jawa Barat.
Sampai video ini diterbitkan, Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN) belum menanggapi pertanyaan yang BBC News Indonesia kirimkan sejak Senin (09/06).
Tapi sebelumnya Kepala BGN, Dadan Hindayana, bilang pemerintah akan bertanggung jawab membiayai ongkos pengobatan siswa korban keracunan MBG. Termasuk memberikan kompensasi, meskipun tidak semuanya.
