Israel Paksa 21.000 Tahanan Palestina Berjejal di Penjara Gurun Negev, Urungkan Niat Tangkap Orang

Hal tersebut dibenarkan oleh Kepala Dinas Keamanan Dalam Negeri (Shin Bet).
Menurutnya, jumlah tersebut melebihi kapasitas lantaran penjara tersebut hanya berkapasitas 14.500 orang.
Pihaknya mengatakan, melonjaknya jumlah tahanan di penjara Sde Teiman menyusul pecahnya pertempuran terbaru Israel dan Hamas pada 7 Oktober 2023.
Adapun perang tersebut berlanjut dengan serangan Israel di Jalur Gaza dan Tepi Barat.
“Sde Teiman telah menerima lebih dari 5.000 warga Palestina yang telah ditangkap di Jalur Gaza dan Tepi Barat sejak tanggal 7 Oktober lalu," menurut laporan Yedioth Ahronoth, mengutip pernyataan Shin Bet pada Selasa (2/7/2024).
“500 tahanan tiba dari fasilitas militer Sde Teiman bulan lalu atas permintaan tentara Israel," lanjutnya.
Atas meningkatnya jumlah tahanan, Shin Bet mengatakan Israel tengah melaksanakan proyek percepatan pembangunan penjara-penjara baru.
"Pembangunan ini akan menambah 2.500 tempat ke penjara keamanan dan menyediakan 900 tempat penahanan baru,” menurut pernyataan itu.
Lanjut Shin Bet menyebut, perintah penangkapan tambahan akan dibatalkan karena tidak ada tempat untuk menahan para tahanan.
