On August 10, 2026, news reports claimed that entrepreneur Manav Sardana bought a penthouse at DLF's The Dahlias in Gurugram for a record ₹271 crores. It is the most expensive single unit home ever reported to be sold in India.The unit has a 17,200 sq ft super area and a 10,500 sq ft carpet area, which works out to nearly ₹2.6 lakh per square foot on carpet. At a rate of about ₹95 to the dollar, that is roughly $28.5 million.
These rates place Gurugram’s premium residential market alongside Manhattan’s most exclusive condominiums, where top-end properties frequently command $2,000-3,000 per sq. ft.
So Gurugram is now selling homes at almost New York prices. But New York comes with a functioning city attached. Gurugram, in the same monsoon week this deal was reported, was under a foot and a half of water.
