En 1976, accompagnée d’un petit groupe de scientifiques, l’archéologue colombienne Luisa Fernanda Herrera découvre ce site mythique et ses dizaines de terrasses sculptées dans la montagne sur plus de trois cents mètres de dénivelé. Mais dans cette région en proie au narcotrafic et aux conflits armés, les scientifiques sont bientôt contraints d’abandonner leurs recherches. Depuis 2006, des archéologues ont repris les fouilles des vestiges et révélé le peuple qui a fondé Ciudad Perdida : les Taironas. Comment ont-ils vécu pendant six siècles dans cette jungle reculée ? Quelle était leur organisation sociale ? Comment ont-ils réagi face à l’arrivée des Espagnols ?
