Meneladani prinsip almarhum ayahnya, Ilham Habibie tidak mau "dititipkan". Ia ingin dikenal atas kemampuannya sendiri dan bukan karena dibantu oleh ayahnya.
"Bapak tidak mau digituin, dan bapak tidak kasih anaknya seperti itu," pungkasnya.
