Der Verfassungsschutz sieht eine wachsende Gefahr durch Rechts- und Linksextremismus in Deutschland. Der Rechtsextremismus bleibe dabei die größte Bedrohung für die Demokratie, heißt es im am Dienstag veröffentlichen Verfassungsschutzbericht für das Jahr 2025. Das rechtsextremistische Personenpotenzial ist aus Sicht des Verfassungsschutzes auf 58.700 Personen gestiegen (2024: 50.250), darunter auch Tausende gewaltorientierte Personen.In dem Bericht warnt Bundesinnenminister Dobrindt auch vor einem neuen Höchststand gewaltorientierter Linksextremist:innen. Unverändert stelle auch der islamistische Terrorismus eine Bedrohung dar.
