Iran an 'imminent threat' every day, US Republican chairman tells Al Jazeera

Brian Mast, Republican chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, told Al Jazeera that Iran has long posed an "imminent threat" to America, citing attacks on US vessels, the killing of three soldiers in Jordan, and failed negotiations.
He defined the mission's objective as destroying "every single piece of Iranian military hardware" capable of reaching US forces or allies, including missiles, naval assets, and launchers.
Mast expressed confidence in US intelligence and growing regional cooperation, arguing Gulf allies recognise America as their "hedge of protection" against Iran. He dismissed concerns about wider war, stating US capabilities are growing while Iran's diminish daily.
On diplomacy, Mast said talks could resume only if Iran first agrees to abandon nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and support for proxies. He stressed the US would maintain military pressure throughout any negotiations.
