We’ve gathered four iconic generations of raw ten-cylinder fury from the Volkswagen Group, and they’re going head-to-head to see which ultimate exhaust note reigns supreme! We’ve got an Audi R8 V10, a Lamborghini Huracán Performante, a classic Lamborghini Gallardo Performante, and a tuned Audi RS6 estate!
Can an absolute barging wagon beat lightweight supercar royalty off the line? Let’s check out the stats…
Starting with the Audi R8 V10, it’s powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V8-slayer, delivering 550hp and 540Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with launch control, and it weighs in at 1,595kg. It’s an everyday supercar hero, and you can grab one today for an absolute bargain at £50,000!
Next up is its hardcore track sibling, the Lamborghini Huracán Performante. It runs an upgraded version of that 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10, screaming out 640hp and 600Nm! It’s stripped back to just 1,482kg, making it the lightest car in the lineup. But track perfection comes at a price, this angry bull will set you back £250,000!
Then we step back in time to the lightweight classic: the Lamborghini Gallardo Performante. It packs a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 pushing out 570hp and 540Nm. Weighing practically the same as the Huracán at 1,485kg, it sends its power through an old-school robotised manual e-gearbox. It’s raw, it’s dramatic, and it’s currently valued at around £190,000.
Finally, we have the ultimate wildcard: a second-generation Audi RS6! Under the bonnet is a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V10, but this absolute estate monster has been tuned to launch an eye-watering 780hp and a massive 1,300Nm of torque! It puts all that power down through a 6-speed automatic torque-converter gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive. It’s a heavy beast at 1,985kg, but it’s cheap speed, costing just £18,000!
So, the tuned RS6 has way more power and over double the torque of the Lamborghinis, but can its extra weight hold it back against lightweight V10 royalty? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!
