Jasad korban kemudian ditinggalkan oleh pelaku di ladang singkong di Dusun Bumi Rejo, Desa Sawo Jajar, Kecamatan Kotabumi Utara.
Hal ini diungkapkan oleh Kapolres Lampung Utara, AKBP Deddy Kurniawan dalam konferensi pers, Sabtu (23/8).
Tersangka bernama Rezki Media Saputra tersebut ditangkap oleh polisi selang dua jam dari penemuan jasad sang istri, Anita Sari.
Kapolres mengungkapkan, peristiwa ini bermula ketika korban Anita menyampaikan niatnya pada sang suami untuk kembali ke Mesuji agar bisa bekerja.
Namun Rezki menolak permintaan sang istri dengan alasan dirinya sedang sakit asam lambung.
Adapun sehari sebelumnya, pelaku sempat menelepon korban sebanyak 21 kali karena curiga sang istri berselingkuh.
Menurut keterangan tersangka, selama di Mesuji, korban Anita jarang mengangkat teleponnya.
Keduanya kemudian terlibat cekcok hingga membuat korban menendang paha suaminya.
Lantaran emosi, Rezki kemudian mencekik korban hingga terjatuh lalu menginjak serta menjerat sang istri menggunakan dalaman jilbab hingga tewas.
Seusai membunuh istrinya, Rezki yang panik sempat mencoba bunuh diri dengan meminum racun namun gagal.
Untuk diketahui, Rezki dan Anita sudah 12 tahun berumah tangga dan memiliki empat orang anak.
Kini atas perbuatannya pelaku dijerat dengan Pasal 44 ayat 3 UU Nomor 23 Tahun 2004 tentang Penghapusan Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga, dengan ancaman hukuman penjara maksimal 15 tahun atau seumur hidup.
