Complete Fantasy Photo Manipulation Workflow in Photoshop
In this tutorial I'll walk you through my complete workflow for creating a fantasy photo manipulation in Photoshop — from setting up the canvas all the way to the final post-production touches in Camera Raw.You'll learn how to extract and mask a model, build a fantasy background, add and modify angel wings using Puppet Warp, and tackle one of the trickiest parts of any manipulation — adding and painting realistic hair using three different methods including painted stock hair, custom brush painting, and channel calculations for hair extraction.
We'll also cover how to create depth of field using foreground and background blur, paint soft shadows with clipping masks, and build up ambient effects with falling leaves, dust particles, and light glows to give the scene that dreamy, atmospheric feel.
To finish things off, I'll show you my non-destructive post-production workflow using Color Lookup LUT presets and Camera Raw to nail the final color tones — including tips on contrast, saturation, color grading, and adding vignetting and film grain for a natural, polished look.
