Qatar has shared a draft peace deal with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Rwanda-backed M23 rebels as part of Doha's ongoing peace efforts. This follows the signing of a declaration of principles by the DRC government and the M23 in Qatar in July. Back then, the two sides had agreed to finalise a peace deal by August 18, but the timeline was not met. Clashes between the DRC army and the rebels have not only continued but intensified in recent days, threatening a fragile ceasefire.
