Ia memulai pidatonya dengan menyinggung jelang peringatan dua tahun kampanye genosida Israel di Gaza.
"Ini sebuah kejahatan perang dan kejahatan terhadap kemanusiaan yang terdokumentasi dan termonitor dan ini akan terekam dalam buku-buku sejarah serta dalam kesadaran internasional sebagai salah satu bab paling kelam dari tragedi kemanusiaan abad ke-20 dan ke-21," ucap Abbas dalam siaran YouTube United Nations, Kamis (25/9/2025).
Abbas juga menegaskan kembali kecamannya atas serangan Hamas pada 7 Oktober 2023.
Serangan itu memang menjadi pematik agresi brutal Israel ke Jalur Gaza yang berlangsung hingga kini dan telah menewaskan lebih dari 65 ribu orang.
"Kami menolak apa yang Hamas lakukan pada 7 Oktober, aksi yang menargetkan warga sipil Israel dan menyandera mereka, ini bukan tindakan yang merepresentasikan bangsa Palestina atau merepresentasikan perjuangan kebebasan dan kebebasan," imbuhnya.
Dalam kesempatan itu, Abbas juga berterima kasih kepada sejumlah negara seperti Prancis, Kanada, Australia, Portugal, Inggris, yang kompak resmi mengakui Palestina selama rangkaian Sidang Majelis Umum PBB pekan ini.
Ia mendorong agar semakin banyak negara yang belum mau mengakui Palestina segera menyusul hingga pada akhirnya negaranya itu bisa menjadi anggota penuh PBB.
