Ayşegül Feray Gökdere bu konuşmasında, Cumhurbaşkanlığı himayelerinde, sanayi ve teknoloji bakanlığı uhdesinde ve Tübitak MAM KARE koordinatörlüğünde gerçekleştirilen Antarktika’ya uzanan, yaklaşık 14.000 kilometrelik yolculuğunu yalnızca coğrafi bir keşif olarak değil, Dünya’nın geçmişine, iklim hafızasına ve insanın gezegendeki yerine dair derin bir düşünme deneyimi olarak anlatıyor. Bir jeoloji mühendisi ve paleoiklimci olarak Antarktika’da gördüğü buzulları, kayaçları ve tortulları; geçmiş iklimlerin izlerini taşıyan doğal kayıtlar olarak ele alıyor. Konuşmasında, Dünya ikliminin tarih boyunca değiştiğini ancak bugün asıl meselenin bu değişimin hızı ve canlılar ile toplumların uyum kapasitesi olduğunu vurguluyor. Antarktika’nın sessizliği ve uzaklığı üzerinden insanın doğa karşısındaki konumunu, bilimsel bilginin sorumlulukla birleştiğinde nasıl daha anlamlı hale geldiğini ve geçmişi anlamanın geleceğe daha bilinçli hazırlanmanın yollarından biri olduğunu aktarıyor. Konuşmacı, iklim değişikliğini yalnızca korku ya da felaket diliyle değil; veri, gözlem, merak ve sorumluluk ekseninde düşünmeyi öneriyor. Bu konuşma, dünyanın en uzak noktalarından birine yapılan yolculuğun aslında gezegene daha yakından bakmayı, insan etkisini daha geniş bir zaman ölçeğinde değerlendirmeyi ve kendimizi Dünya’nın sahibi değil, geleceğinden sorumlu tanıkları olarak görmeyi öğreten bir başlangıca dönüşebileceğini anlatıyor. Ayşegül Feray Gökdere is a geological engineer, academic, and paleoclimatologist who studies past climate records to better understand today’s environmental and climate changes and to develop future climate projections. She has led numerous national and international paleoclimate projects, including the Russia–Türkiye bilateral cooperation project, and has recently returned from the TAE-X / 2026 10th National Antarctic Expedition. She is currently continuing her research through a TÜBİTAK 1001-supported cave project and actively contributes to international scientific collaboration through COST Actions.
