December 9, 1992 - Against Olden Polynice and Terry Mills, rookie Shaquille O'Neal feasted. Then along came Bill Laimbeer. Playing in the penultimate season of his career, the 34-year-old Laimbeer stymied young Shaq at times, limiting O'Neal to just 4-of-11 shooting, four turnovers, and four houls with Laimbeer standing in as his primary defender.Shaq finished with 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting before fouling out at the hands of, you guessed it, Bill Laimbeer.
This wouldn't be the last time Laimbeer would thrive in his matchup with Shaq. A year later, Laimbeer once again gave O'Neal fits en route to outscoring Shaq then retiring a week later.
