Some of these skyscrapers cost more than entire small countries spend on health or education in a year, and the money poured into them often stays out of reach for everyday citizens while elite investors benefit the most. Building at insane heights requires materials and engineering that push human limits, and that means delays, cost overruns, dangerous working conditions, and environmental damage just to get them standing. Once they’re open, huge portions of their space sit empty because only a tiny number of ultra-rich tenants can afford to rent or buy there, turning them into giant, shiny monuments to inequality.
